Happy Cancer New Moon! Many of us have been feeling the emotional, watery waves of the last few weeks with Neptune Stationing Retrograde in Pisces, and Mars, Mercury, the North Node, and the Sun in Cancer. You may be experiencing confusion, feelings of helplessness, neediness, frustration, and overall sensitivity to current situations, people, and circumstances. You may also be reconnecting to your family, ancestry, and reviewing your home life and whether or not your needs are getting met, or if you’re giving more than receiving.
These themes and more will be the focus of this upcoming New Moon Eclipse in Cancer. And there is a slight contradiction in the energy as this Eclipse is a North Node Eclipse, meaning it will be pulling us forward in some way, but Saturn will be exactly conjunct the South Node, Mercury will be Stationing Retrograde in Leo and moving back into Cancer, and Chiron will also be Stationing Retrograde in Aries, leaving us with more than half the planets in retrograde motion. We are literally revisiting and clearing out the past to make way for our future.
Eclipse Season is the time to release the old and build the new. Review what isn’t working and find new paths forward and new solutions to stuck patterns. If you aren’t proactive in making change, Eclipses will create change for you and make it painfully uncomfortable. These Eclipses are in Cancer and Capricorn; Cancer is the home, family, support and security, and Capricorn is work, responsibility, autonomy, and status.
Cancer is the Mother archetype, the loving, grounded, protective presence that shows up for us in times of need. She is the bloodline that connects us to our roots, generations of familial stories and karma that we carry through to present time. She is the bearer of life giving water that gives rise to creation, from conception to birth.
Now is the time to go within and connect with what nurtures and supports you most, and then eventually, maybe not until after the Eclipse, look outside and see how you can carry that nurturance and support to the world around you, in your family, in your work, in your creative pursuits. We are most sensitive when Cancer is the focus in the collective field. We are easily triggered and may feel more lost and alone than usual. Take time for self-care and explore the deeper unconscious patterns that are arising during this time. Healing is also the path of Cancer. Healing our ancestral and early childhood wounds so that we can liberate ourself from conditioned programs of fear, unworthiness, and lack.
With Saturn (the ruler of the South Node in Capricorn) Conjunct the South Node, we are taking a good look at the ways in which we may have neglected family or our own emotional process in exchange for work, career, and status. Or we may also be exploring if our current work and role in society is emotionally fulfilling, purposeful, and satisfying. If it isn’t, then some major changes may be underway to bring you more in alignment with a life that creates a healthy balance of family, work, and fulfillment.
Creative energies are freed up and Ego’s may be fired up with Mars and Mercury conjunct in Leo AND Squaring Uranus, and Trine Chiron. To add to the sensitivity of Cancer, Uranus and Chiron play a major role during this Eclipse, stirring up old wounds, short fuses, and erratic behavior. It’s also bringing in new information that inspires healing, connection, and possibly even playfulness if we can come out the other side of our inner child wounding and need for validation and attention. Breakthroughs, breakdowns, and sudden changes will course correct us. Remember that we all have struggles in our past and present and compassion can go a long way in repairing ruptures in relationships.
Boundaries are equally as important as connection and reflect compassion for yourself in unhealthy situations. With Cancer the boundaries between us and them are blurred as their needs become our need and responsibility. With Saturn Conjunct the South Node and Opposing this Cancer New Moon we are confronted with our own need for structure, autonomy, boundaries, and definition within all the roles we play in life. Sometimes creating boundaries means we let go of those people or situations that are not supporting or nurturing us. This is the conversation this New Moon. Mars and Mercury in Leo will give us just enough of an edge of selfishness to advocate for ourself and our needs and desires. Ambiguity won’t last through this New Moon, and new ways of living and relating with more clarity and structure will be the result in the end.
With Mercury Stationing Retrograde, however these new boundaries and clarity will be tested to make sure that the choices you’re making are truly what you want and need. Once he moves back into Cancer, these tests will become more pronounced and we’ll need to adjust course where necessary.
Give yourself the time to connect to your inner resources and sense of security. Seeking outside yourself won’t bring fulfillment. Only working on yourself with love and compassion will manifest these qualities outside yourself. Happiness in relationships, work, and family, are all contingent upon how much you value and love yourself. Begin here all will fall into place.
