New Moon Solar Eclipse in Virgo

By Marie Satori

New Moon Solar Eclipse at 29° Virgo | September 21, 2025, 3:54 PM EDT

We're at the 29th degree of Virgo. Every lesson this Virgo season has been trying to teach you about service, health, daily routines, and that relentless inner critic gets compressed into this single pressure point. The universe is holding up a mirror to your "I'll rest and take care of myself when I'm dead" mentality, and is asking you, "How's that working out for you?"

This is the only time between now and February 2027 that we'll have a solar eclipse in Virgo-Pisces - all the others will be lunar eclipses. There's an important difference: lunar eclipses help us see what needs to go and let it go, while solar eclipses usually start new things.

However, this solar eclipse is different because it's happening with the South Node, which is all about endings and what we need to leave behind. So instead of starting something new, this eclipse is about recognizing that you've been trying to do way too much. It's like realizing you've been trying to balance so many things that everything is about to fall apart - and that's actually okay. You need to let some things drop so you can rebuild in a healthier way.

Looking Back to 2006 and early 2007

Think back to late 2006 and early 2007 (this eclipse directly mirrors the one from September 2006, which occurred at the exact same degree of Virgo). What systems were breaking down? Which routines proved unsustainable? How did perfectionism sabotage your progress or relationships? What work situations reached their expiration date?

The themes from that period are returning for completion. But this time, you have 19 years of experience to apply. You know what happens when you ignore your body's signals. You know where "just pushing through" leads. You know the cost of saying yes when you mean no. Expect significant relationships and people from 2006 and 2007 to emerge, either in your mind, or actually in reality.

Currently, the Sun and Moon at 29° Virgo are locked in direct opposition with Saturn and Neptune in Pisces. You're caught between your responsibilities (Saturn) and your breaking point (Neptune). You've been trying to satisfy both by working yourself to the bone, then numbing out with whatever helps you escape. Neither strategy is working.

Meanwhile, Mercury, Virgo's cosmic ruler, is forming a gorgeous Grand Air Trine with Pluto and Uranus. The mental breakthroughs are right there, waiting. Revolutionary insights about restructuring your entire life are available. But you have to slow down, to download them.

Mars is also at a critical degree - 29° Libra, squaring Pluto and opposing Chiron. Every wound around proving your worth through constant productivity? Activated. That belief that you have to earn love by being useful? Under scrutiny.

Virgo-Pisces Axis

The Virgo-Pisces axis teaches that precision and surrender aren't opposites, they're partners. Virgo brings the discipline, the systems, the practical application. Pisces brings the flow, the intuition, the spiritual dimension. When they're integrated, you get sacred service that doesn't deplete you. When they're at war, you get what you've probably been living: exhausting perfectionism alternating with complete collapse.

Here's what this eclipse is revealing about where you've been living in the extremes:

  • Fixing others while your own life needs attention
  • Maintaining impossible standards that no one asked you to meet
  • Confusing being needed with being loved
  • Using busyness to avoid feeling what hurts

The medicine lives in integration. You can care deeply without carrying everyone.

Shadow Patterns

Let's talk about what's really happening at this eclipse. You've likely been stuck in what I call the perfection prison - that exhausting belief that if you could just get organized enough, productive enough, or helpful enough, you'd finally earn the right to rest. Here's what this eclipse is trying to tell you: you don't need to earn rest. You already deserve it, right now, exactly as you are.

Many of us struggle with the usefulness addiction, where we can't just exist without constantly proving our value through what we produce or accomplish. It's as if being still or unproductive makes us worthless.

Then there's the helper's complex, where you're solving everyone else's problems while your own life comes second. You tell yourself you're being selfless, but what if taking care of yourself first would actually help others more? When you're depleted, you're not truly helpful to anyone. The whole, put your oxygen mask on first.

Analysis paralysis is another pattern that shows up strongly now. You might find yourself stuck in endless planning, researching, and preparing but never actually starting. Sometimes a messy first draft is better than a perfect plan that never happens. And if you're wearing your exhaustion like a medal, believing that being constantly working late hours proves how dedicated you are, that's the martyr of productivity talking. All it really proves is that you've disconnected from time management.

Because this eclipse involves the South Node at the very last degree of Virgo, it's entirely about endings, not beginnings. What specifically needs to end? Start with routines that drain you instead of energizing you. Look at your compulsion to fix everything and everyone. Question those impossibly high standards that leave you feeling like a failure. Notice if you're using being helpful as a way to feel loved. Examine health habits that look good on paper but actually harm you. Consider work situations where you have to pretend to be less capable than you are. Challenge the belief that you have to work to earn rest. And recognize patterns where you give too much to prove you're valuable.

This transformation won't happen overnight - it unfolds over about five and a half months. From September 19th to 21st, as the Moon moves through Virgo, you'll feel the initial activation where things that aren't working become impossible to ignore. Through September and October, your routines will be disrupted in ways that show you what needs to change, and clarity will come from unexpected places. November through December is when you'll actively reorganize, testing new approaches and finally letting go of old patterns. By January and February 2026, you'll be integrating these changes, and what seemed impossible in September will have become your new normal. By March 2026, you'll be making final adjustments and looking back amazed at what you used to accept as normal.

How to Work With This Eclipse (Hint: You Kinda Don't)

The eclipse doesn't need your participation. It needs your presence. But here's what you can do:

  1. Let things break: When something starts falling apart, resist the urge to immediately fix it, or to be the one to fix things. Just watch. Sometimes things need to collapse to show you they weren't working, or you were the only one trying to make things work in the first place.

  2. Quit something: Pick one exhausting commitment and end it. (Be realistic, this doesn’t necessarily mean to quit your job without a plan) But quit whatever it is for real. Not "I'll do less of it" or "I'm taking a break." Just be done. That volunteer position that drains you? That weekly obligation you dread? Send the resignation email today.

  3. Rethink your mornings: Before you dive into your to-do list, ask yourself: "What actually matters today?" Forget what looks impressive or productive. What genuinely needs your attention? The answer might surprise you.

  4. Listen to your body: Every ache, every wave of exhaustion, that knot in your stomach - they're not inconveniences, they're messages. The eclipse is turning up the volume on these signals. That afternoon crash? That Sunday night dread? Your body is trying to tell you something.

  5. Make peace with the chaos: Your life might feel messier than usual right now. Good. Stop trying to organize your way through it. Sometimes the mess is showing you exactly what doesn't belong anymore. Let it be messy while you figure out what stays and what goes.

Here's the thing about working with eclipse energy: you can't control it, and you shouldn't try. Your job is to work with what it's showing you. Start by simply observing what's breaking down without rushing to fix it. Some things need to fall apart. If it’s meant to be fixed, it can come back together, after some detached perspective.

The eclipse doesn't need your participation. It needs your presence. Show up, witness what's ready to leave, and let the last degree of Virgo do what it does best: separate what serves from what merely exhausts you in the name of service.

As you stand at this equinox threshold, this balance point between seasons, between light and dark, between holding on and letting go, remember that nature never apologizes for her cycles. Trees don't feel guilty for dropping leaves. Fields don't shame themselves for lying fallow. The earth herself is showing you that rest is part of the cycle, in preparation for what comes next.

Some truths are felt in the body before the mind can articulate them. Some changes happen not through force but through exhausted surrender. Some endings are medicine disguised as loss. This eclipse teaches you the difference between excellence you can sustain and perfection that slowly destroys you.

At 29° Virgo, mastery means knowing when the work is complete—not perfect, but complete. The most powerful edit is often deletion. The strongest boundary is sometimes an ending. The greatest service might be modeling what sustainable caring looks like.

The rest is tomorrow's work. And as the equinox reminds us, tomorrow's light will be perfectly balanced with tomorrow's darkness, there's no rush to do it all in today's light.

Between now and February 2027, everything about how you work, serve, care for yourself, and structure your days is getting dismantled and rebuilt from scratch. This isn't a renovation where you keep the foundation. This is bulldozers and blank slates.

Signs that will feel this eclipse the most

If you have planets or significant points at these degrees, you're in the eclipse's direct path:

26-29° of mutable signs (Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, Sagittarius), 0-2° of Libra, and 24-30° of any mutable signs, 0-4° of cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn)

Even if you don't have planets at these degrees, look at where 29° Virgo falls in your birth chart. That house represents the life area undergoing this graduation ceremony.

Horoscopes for your Rising Sign

Aries Rising

You know that schedule that would kill a normal person? The one where you're everyone's emergency contact but no one's priority? Dead. Done. This Solar Eclipse in your 6th house is torching your exhausting routines while Mercury in your partnership sector can't get a straight answer from anyone.

The eclipse at 29° Virgo is the universe's way of saying "enough." Mars enters Scorpio tomorrow in your 8th house, so those band-aid solutions you've been slapping on everything? They're about to get ripped off. No more surface fixes. No more pretending you're fine, this is fine. You're going deep.

Saturn retrograde in your 12th house has been showing you exactly how you became your own worst enemy. That voice that says you're only valuable when you're producing? It's not your motivator. It's your abuser. And you're the one keeping it employed.

You don't have to earn rest through exhaustion. You don't have to collapse to deserve a break. Stop treating burnout like it's a badge of honor. It's not. It's just burnout.

If they need you to destroy yourself to be useful to them, they don't need you. They need an assistant. And last time I checked, you weren't hired for that position (and if you were, you need a raise).

Taurus Rising

This eclipse is hitting your creativity and joy sector at the same time Venus is moving through there. Think of it like this: the universe is forcing you to look at what actually makes you happy versus what you've been pretending brings you joy.

For years, you've been sitting on creative projects because they're "not ready yet." You've been the stable, calm one in relationships while stuffing down what you really feel. Maybe you've been working on "anger management" while everyone else gets to push your buttons without consequences. This eclipse in your 5th house is done watching you suffer.

Mars entering Scorpio in your partnership sector tomorrow means those dynamics you've been managing while biting your tongue are about to get real uncomfortable. Mercury in your 6th house is trying to help you communicate your daily needs and health, but the truth is, you've been suppressing them for so long you might not even know what they are anymore.

Uranus retrograde in Gemini in your 2nd house since September 6 is asking you to reconsider what you value. Not what you think you should value - what actually matters to you. This eclipse might force some of those decisions.

The question isn't whether you're good enough to share your creativity or be loved as you are. If they'll love the edited version of you. Show them the director's cut anyway. Your mess IS the art. Your chaos IS the creation.

Gemini Rising

Let me guess - you're the family IT department, therapist, and general fixer-upper, organizing everyone's life while yours is held together with duct tape and denial. This eclipse in your home sector is revoking your lifetime membership to the ‘fix everyone's problems, but yours comes last club’.

The 29° eclipse is ending a chapter with your living situation or family dynamics. With Mars entering Scorpio tomorrow in your 6th house, the daily routines that emerge from these changes will be intense but necessary. Mercury, your ruler, in your 5th house is trying to help you have fun, but it's opposing Saturn and Neptune. You can't even remember what fun feels like because you've been too busy managing everyone else's drama (including yours). Your daily life is about to reflect these family pattern changes whether you're ready or not.

Uranus retrograde in your sign is the identity crisis you've been avoiding. You've been playing so many roles for so many people, you don't know which one is actually you. Spoiler: maybe none of them. When Uranus slides back into Taurus and your 12th house on November 7, unconscious patterns will surface.

Saturn retrograde in Pisces in your 10th house through November is showing you how family patterns show up in your professional life. That need to fix everything? It started at home, or because of your home life.

Venus in Virgo in your home sector isn't about creating the perfect space. It's about creating a space where you can be imperfect safely. Stop organizing your space to avoid feeling your feelings. You don't have to fix their problems to earn your place at the table. You belong there even if you show up empty-handed and needing help yourself.

Cancer Rising

This Solar Eclipse in Virgo shakes up your 3rd house of communication and daily life while Mercury in Libra in your 4th house creates confusion about home and family through oppositions to Saturn and Neptune. This eclipse is cutting the power to your mental hamster wheel, and it's about time.

The 29° Virgo eclipse is done with your overthinking. With Mars entering Scorpio tomorrow in your 5th house of creativity and romance, you're about to discover what happens when you feel instead of analyze.

Mercury opposing both Saturn and Neptune from your home sector means family communication isn't working. The diplomatic approach hits Saturn's wall of reality. The emotional appeal gets lost in Neptune's fog. What's left? The truth, simple and direct.

Saturn retrograde in Pisces in your 9th house through November is questioning every belief you have about how life "should" work. Uranus retrograde in Gemini in your 12th house is stirring up unconscious patterns you didn't know existed.

Venus in Virgo in your communication sector until October 13 is teaching you that love is in the details - but not the perfect details. The real ones. If you're still editing yourself to be acceptable, ask yourself: acceptable to whom?

Leo Rising

This Solar Eclipse in Virgo illuminates your 2nd house of money and self-worth while Venus moves through the same sector. The universe is done watching you undervalue yourself.

The 29° eclipse is recalculating your worth - and I'm not just talking about money. With Mars entering Scorpio tomorrow in your 4th house, family dynamics might trigger deep questions about inherited beliefs about value and success.

Mercury in Libra in your 3rd house wants you to communicate better, but opposing Saturn and Neptune means you might not trust your own voice yet. That's what this eclipse is fixing.

Uranus retrograde in Gemini in your 11th house since September 6 is reshaking your friend groups and future vision. The people who only liked the performative you? They might fade out as you become more real.

Saturn retrograde in Pisces in your 8th house through November is showing you where you've been afraid of real intimacy because it requires showing up imperfect. But here's the truth: Venus in your value sector isn't trying to make you worth more. She's trying to show you that you already are.

Virgo Rising

This Solar Eclipse at 29° in your sign is personal. It's asking who you are when the helping is done, when the fixing is finished, when perfection is impossible.

With the South Node conjunct this eclipse in your sign and the North Node in Pisces in your 7th house, you're learning that love doesn't require you to be useful. Mars entering Scorpio tomorrow in your 3rd house means these conversations are about to get uncomfortably honest.

Mercury in Libra in your 2nd house opposes both Saturn and Neptune, creating confusion about your value. Are you worth what you produce? Or are you valuable just for existing? This eclipse is forcing that answer.

Venus in your sign until October 13 would normally make you more attractive, but this isn't about becoming more perfect. It's about becoming more real. Uranus retrograde in Gemini in your 10th house since September 6 is already shaking up your professional identity.

Saturn retrograde in Pisces in your 7th house through November is the real teacher here. It's showing you that spiritual partnership doesn't mean having no boundaries. It means knowing where you end and another begins. If you're still trying to earn love through service, this eclipse ends that contract.

Libra Rising

This Solar Eclipse in Virgo activates your 12th house right before your season begins. With Mercury in your sign opposing both Saturn and Neptune, you're trying to communicate something you don't fully understand yet.

The 29° eclipse is surfacing unconscious patterns, especially around perfectionism and self-punishment. Mars entering Scorpio tomorrow in your 2nd house means these hidden patterns have been affecting your resources and self-worth.

Venus in Virgo in your 12th house until October 13 is helping you love the parts of yourself you usually hide. But first, you have to see them. Uranus retrograde in Gemini in your 9th house since September 6 is questioning beliefs you didn't know you had.

Saturn retrograde in Pisces in your 6th house through November is showing you how spiritual bypassing has affected your daily life and health. You can't meditate your way out of exhaustion. Sometimes you just need to rest.

With your ruler Venus moving into your sign October 13, you'll integrate what this eclipse reveals. But right now? Let the unconscious become conscious. If you're still perfecting yourself in private, ask yourself: what am I preparing for that never seems to arrive?

Scorpio Rising

This Solar Eclipse in Virgo transforms your 11th house of community and future dreams. Mars entering your sign tomorrow makes this personal - you're done being everyone's therapist while your own dreams gather dust. Done being the deep one they call for crisis but forget for celebration.

The 29° eclipse is showing you which friendships drain versus restore you. With Mercury in Libra in your 12th house opposing Saturn and Neptune, you might not have words for what you're feeling yet. That's fine. Some things need to be felt first.

Venus in Virgo in your 11th house until October 13 is helping you see which connections are based on real affection versus obligation. Uranus retrograde in Gemini in your 8th house since September 6 is revolutionizing how you share resources and vulnerability.

Saturn retrograde in Pisces in your 5th house through November is asking hard questions about joy and creativity. When did fun become another thing to perfect? When did pleasure require justification?

Your ruler Mars in your sign from tomorrow through November 4 gives you power to make changes. But first, this eclipse needs to show you what needs changing. If you're still earning belonging through usefulness, this eclipse is revoking that membership.

Sagittarius Rising

This Solar Eclipse in Virgo hits your 10th house while Mercury in Libra in your 11th house struggles to communicate your vision to your community. The 29° degree says your current professional identity has expired.

Mars entering Scorpio tomorrow in your 12th house means unconscious anger about career compromises is about to surface. Good. You need that anger. It's information. Mercury in your community sector can't communicate your vision because you've been speaking their language instead of yours.

Venus in Virgo in your career sector until October 13 isn't about perfecting your professional image. It's about finding work that doesn't require you to pretend. Uranus retrograde in Gemini in your 7th house since September 6 is showing you how partnership dynamics affect career choices. Saturn retrograde in Pisces in your 4th house through November is the foundation of all this. Family beliefs about success, inherited definitions of achievement. Stop climbing ladders leaning against the wrong building. If you're still prioritizing what looks good over what feels right, this eclipse will show you exactly what that trade-off has cost you.

With Jupiter in Cancer in your 8th house, transformation is supported, but it requires going deep. If you're still choosing impressive over meaningful, this eclipse will show you why that trade-off isn't worth it anymore.

Capricorn Rising

This Solar Eclipse in Virgo activates your 9th house of beliefs and expansion while Saturn, your ruler, retrogrades through Pisces in your 3rd house. Everything you communicate and think you "know" is up for questioning.

The 29° eclipse is graduating you from beliefs that became prisons. Mars entering Scorpio tomorrow in your 11th house means your community and future vision are about to reflect these internal changes.

Mercury in Libra in your 10th house opposes Saturn and Neptune, creating professional confusion. What you thought you wanted might not fit who you're becoming. Venus in Virgo in your 9th house until October 13 is helping you love the questions more than the answers.

Uranus retrograde in Gemini in your 6th house since September 6 is revolutionizing your daily routines and work life. The structured approach that used to work? It's outdated.

Aquarius Rising

This Solar Eclipse in Virgo transforms your 8th house of intimacy and shared resources while Saturn, your traditional ruler, retrogrades through Pisces in your 2nd house. The relationship between value and vulnerability is getting reorganized.

The 29° eclipse is showing you where control masquerades as boundaries. Mars entering Scorpio tomorrow in your 10th house means professional changes might force personal transformation.

Mercury in Libra in your 9th house opposes Saturn and Neptune, making your usual philosophical approach feel inadequate. Some things can't be intellectualized. Venus in Virgo in your 8th house until October 13 is teaching you that intimacy requires precision - knowing exactly where you end and another begins.

Uranus retrograde in Gemini in your 5th house since September 6 is revolutionizing your relationship with joy and creativity. The detached approach doesn't work when it comes to feeling joy and pleasure.

If you're still perfecting your defenses before allowing intimacy, this eclipse will show you that walls keep out connection, not just pain. The question isn't whether you're ready for depth. It's whether you're willing to even let it in.

Pisces Rising

This Solar Eclipse in Virgo at 29° lights up your 7th house of partnerships with the South Node, while the North Node in your sign calls you home to yourself. Every relationship pattern that depletes you is up for review.

Mars entering Scorpio tomorrow in your 9th house means beliefs about relationships are about to get intense scrutiny. Mercury in Libra in your 8th house opposes both Saturn and Neptune in your sign, creating deep confusion about shared resources and intimacy. Saturn retrograde is the tough-love teacher. It's asking you to bring structure to your compassion. Not walls. Not coldness. Just knowing that their emergency isn't automatically your problem.

Venus in Virgo in your partnership sector until October 13 is showing you the difference between helping and enabling, between service and servitude. Saturn retrograde in your sign through November is the heavyweight teacher here, asking you to bring structure to your spiritual life and boundaries to your compassion.

Uranus retrograde in Gemini in your 4th house since September 6 is shaking your foundation, showing how family patterns created relationship dynamics. This eclipse is freeing you from the need to fix everyone.

With Neptune in your sign, you feel everything. But this eclipse asks, when did everyone else's feelings become more important than your own wellbeing?
